**We cordially ask the attendees to turn on their cameras and turn off their microphones during the presentation. Dear all, Joris Plettscher will deliver the next Oberseminar (19th December,10:00, via Zoom): Title: „Influence of Pruning on Polysemanticity in Artificial Neural Networks“ Abstract: „Features are measurable properties of the data that are relevant to solving a certain task. When multiple unrelated features significantly impact the activation of an individual neuron in a neural network, it is called polysemanticity. This thesis aims to investigate the influence of pruning, meaning the removal of parameters from a model, on the degree of polysemanticity in neural networks. To solve this question, a method to generate toy data with known ground truth features is presented and used to create a controlled environment in which polysemanticity can be measured. Starting with a large model that sufficiently represents the ground truth features, different pruning ratios are applied and the pruned model retrained. The polysemanticity in the retrained model is then measured. Assuming that the number of represented features is preserved through pruning, the degree of polysemanticity could be expected to increase since there are fewer neurons to represent the same amount of features. In addition to that, the Dropout technique will be examined in the context of pruning, as it encourages neurons to adapt to the potential absence of other neurons and promotes redundancy in feature representations. The experiments of this thesis could show that the training process includes an adjustment of polysemanticity, often reducing it until it converges to a certain level. The impact of pruning on polysemanticity was not definitive, though a tendency for polysemanticity to decrease after pruning was observed in some cases." **We cordially ask the attendees to turn on their cameras and turn off their microphones during the presentation. Dear all, first of all a happy new year! Lucas Filipiak will deliver the next Oberseminar (9th January,10:00, via Zoom): Title: „Refining the Acceptance Problem in Abstract Argumentation by selecting Extensions“ Abstract: A challenge for credulous and sceptical acceptance in Abstract Argumentation is the potentially exponential number of extensions yielded by an extension-based semantics, allowing too many arguments to be credulously accepted, or too few arguments to be sceptically accepted. In the proposed thesis, methods to refine acceptance by selecting extensions based on rules from Voting Theory will be explored. **We cordially ask the attendees to turn on their cameras and turn off their microphones during the presentation. Dear all, Roman Ziske will deliver the next Oberseminar (16th January,10:00, via Zoom): Title: „Exploring Self-Supervised Learning for Wideband Radio Frequency Signal Recognition“ Abstract: Recent advancements in Radio Frequency Machine Learning (RFML) have shown promising results in varios wireless applications. However, the field faces significant challenges due to the scarcity of high-quality labeled RF data. While Self-Supervised Learning (SSL) has emerged as a potential solution, demonstrated by success in other domains like Computer Vision and Natural Language Processing, current RFML research on SSL is limited to simple signal classification tasks and small-scale datasets. This research investigates the applicability of SSL pretraining for more complex tasks, specifically signal recognition which consist of detection, localization in time and frequency, and classification of signals in the wideband RF spectrum. Therefore, existing approaches will be scaled to larger datasets to learn more robust features, and different SSL frameworks will be evaluated for signal recognition performance. **We cordially ask the attendees to turn on their cameras and turn off their microphones during the presentation. Dear all, Theodoros Doukas will deliver the next Oberseminar (23rd January,10:00, via Zoom): Title: „Towards Characterisations of Non-Admissible Semantics in Abstract Argumentation“ Abstract: An abstract argumentation framework is a formalism that uses a directed graph of interacting arguments to represent knowledge, thus modelling an exchange of opposing viewpoints. Semantics determine the sets of simultaneously acceptable arguments, the so-called extension-sets. We analyse representatives of the class of non-admissible semantics, particularly the undisputed, strongly undisputed, weakly admissible, and weakly preferred semantics, and determine properties of the extension-sets they produce, as well as structural features of frameworks that realise extension-sets under these semantics. We describe a class of extension-sets for which we show that it is not realisable under undisputed semantics. We also identify concepts that have proven to be useful in the construction of frameworks that aim to realise given extension-sets under classical semantics and transfer them to the non-admissible case. **We cordially ask the attendees to turn on their cameras and turn off their microphones during the presentation.
